Re: LEGISLATIVE INITIATIVE UPDATE -29 January 2015
SAVE OUR COMMUNITY ACCESS PROVIDERS (SOCAP)
Greetings Cable Advisory Council Members, Community Access Providers, Community Access Producers, CT State Legislators, PURA Regulators, and Supporting Citizens
The first crucial step of the legislative initiative to Save Our Community Access Providers has been accomplished. The Energy & Technology Committee has finished their intake of proposed legislation for the 2015 session of the CT General Assembly. Ref: http://www.cga.ct.gov/2015/etdata/cbr/ET.htm.
The Save Our Community Access Providers (SOCAP) legislative initiative has been recorded in Proposed House Bills PHB-6436 / 6437 / 6438; As submitted by (H69) Representative O’Neill, (H123) Representative Rutigliano, and (H134) Representative Devlin, respectively.
The E&T committee may decide to combine these three proposed House Bills, into one E&T Committee bill.
The SOCAP bill(s) must be scheduled for a public hearing at the E&T committee, prior to any committee vote to send the bill onward to the general assembly (or not). All E&T committee public hearings must be completed before 26 February 2015. Hearing date assignments will be published with five days advance notice.
My Council Chairman letter requesting the PHP Bill consolidation and public hearing schedule has been submitted to the E&T committee. A draft of my SOCAP E&T Hearing testimony has been sent to the E&T Committee Co-Chairs.
The next Steering Committee Meeting for the Cable Advisory Council (R19CWAC) will be held 7pm Tuesday 10 February 2015, at Meeting Room 1, Newtown Town Hall – Primrose Street – Fairfield Hills Campus. This meeting is open to all. This message, the E&T letters, and the distribution list are attached.
