Minutes of Public Regular Meeting –
Tuesday, July 12, 2016
There was a regular meeting of the Cable Advisory Council called to order at 7:04 p.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2016, by Chairman Gregory Davis at the Charter Communications facility, Newtown, Connecticut.
ATTENDEES: Chairman Gregory Davis (Roxbury), Gerry Belanger (Newtown), Kevin Burns (Newtown), George Fletcher (New Milford), Jim Lang (Trumbull), George Linkletter (Sherman), Mike Muttitt, (Monroe), Stephanie O’Rourke (Kent), and Bob Rosenberg (New Fairfield)
From Charter: Greg Van Antwerp (Public Access)
Guest: Jeff Church (representing Heritage Village- Southbury)
ROLL CALL: Members of the council introduced themselves.
PUBLIC INPUT- Jeff Church representing Heritage Village noted that they have now received the Public Access channels and spoke of the background of Charter with Heritage Village. According to the original contract, Charter uses the Heritage Village infrastructure and everyone gets Basic Charter TV. Mr. Church noted that Heritage Village residents have not been getting fast internet speed and would like to bring this issue to PURA. There was a discussion of the process of doing this and various options.
Stephanie O’Rourke from Kent noted that customer service from Charter has improved but spoke of complaints from customers regarding requests for surveys.
SERVICE PROVIDER REPORTS:
Greg Van Antwerp- (Public Access) spoke of the following:
Charter won Beacon Awards for weather casts and spoke of the cooperative education with West Conn.
Charter is working with high schools students with their Capstone projects.
Some regular programming is being done at Charter.
An advanced training class will begin in September.
There have been three truck productions.
Spoke of the filming of Mastick High School graduation.
COUNCIL TREASURY REPORT- George Linkletter presented the Treasurer’s report: The net balance is $17,168.25. This includes $859.16 in checking and $16,309.09 in the money market account. There were no objections and thus the Treasurer’s report was accepted.
May minutes- There were no objections to the minutes of May 10, 2016 and they were accepted.
The following members were nominated as officers beginning July 1, 2016:
Chairman: George Linkletter
Vice Chairman: Mike Muttitt
Treasurer: Gregory Davis
Secretary: Carmella Amodeo
MOTION: Bob Rosenberg made a motion to close the nominations. Mike Muttitt seconded the motion- All in favor
Kevin Burns casted a single vote for the slate of officers as presented.
TOWN DELEGATE REPORTS
Kent- Stephanie O’Rourke asked for ideas to do outreach for Charter.
Trumbull- Jim Lang noted that he knows someone from Trumbull that may be interested in serving on the Council.
New Milford- Village Fair Days will be held at the end of July.
Sherman- There is a new house in Sherman that still cannot get Charter.
The council thanked Gregory Davis for all his hard work as Council Chairman.
Gregory Davis made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:03pm. Seconded.
