Minutes of Public Regular Meeting –

There was a regular meeting of the Cable Advisory Council called to order at 7:04 p.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2015 by Chairman Gregory Davis at the Charter Communications facility, Newtown, Connecticut.


ATTENDEES: Chairman Gregory Davis (Roxbury), Gerry Belanger ( Newtown), Jon Bernon (Woodbury), Kevin Burns (Newtown), George Fletcher (New Milford), Paul Katzmark (Southbury), Jim Lang (Trumbull), George Linkletter (Sherman), Mike Muttitt, (Monroe), Stephanie O’Rourke (Kent), Bob Rosenberg (New Fairfield) and Charles Rubano (New Milford)

ROLL CALL: Members of the council introduced themselves and Chairman Gregory Davis reviewed the packets for tonight’s meeting.


PUBLIC INPUT

Pua Ford from the Alliance for Community Media spoke of specifics of her organization. An Annual Conference will be held in Hartford on Friday, November 20th. Charter Advisory Council members were encouraged to attend. More information can be found at www.acm-ne.org


SERVICE PROVIDER REPORTS:

COUNCIL TREASURY REPORT

Treasurer Paul Katzmark presented the Balance Sheet and Income Statement dated January 2015-July 2015. The net balance is $19,907.19. There were no objections and thus the Treasurer’s report was accepted.


OLD BUSINESS

Minutes from May meeting

Bob Rosenberg moved to approve the minutes of the May 12, 2015 minutes as presented. All in favor except- George Linkletter abstained.


ANNUAL COUNCIL OFFICER ELECTION

The existing slate was proposed:

Gregory Davis- Chairman

Mike Muttitt- Vice Chairman

Kevin Burns- Secretary

Paul Katzmark- Treasurer


Paul Katzmark declined the nomination. George Linkletter was nominated at the last meeting and accepted the nomination.


There were no objections and the slate was approved.


COUNCIL CHAIRMAN REPORT

SVAC Report- Gregory Davis spoke of the Statewide Video Advisory Council held on May 27th and specifically the election for SVAC officers. There was a brief discussion of membership for the SVAC.


Cable Industry News Desk- Chairman Gregory Davis reviewed Cable news from May to July 2015. Full articles are available on the CAC website.


NEW BUSINESS

High Definition Access

Charter website

Jim Lang moved to send the following letters to Director of Government Affairs for Charter Tom Cohan with a copy to Tom Shultes (CT PURA) and Merja Lehtinen (SVAC). All in favor


Please inform the council when Charter Communications plans to begin transmitting the Community Access Channels in high definition over the cable system.


Please be advised that the Charter.com website is in disarray. The option for accessing the basic service tier option is unavailable. Please fix these problems as soon as practical.


It was suggested that these motions be copied to Charter headquarters. Chairman Davis will follow up on this.


OPEN FORUM

Paul Katzmark noted that Heritage Village in Southbury is renegotiating their contract with Charter.


Kevin Burns inquired about the posting of agendas on a timely basis. It was noted that agendas are sent to the First Selectman of every town.


ADJOURNMENT
